Vegetation – Soil Interactions: from Rhizosphere to Ecosystem

This symposium will bring together scientists working at biotic and abiotic soil drivers of vegetation diversity and dynamics, and plant and vegetation scientists, with particular attention to the different scales at which current research is carried out and the key challenges that they face.

Internationally leading scientists in these fields will give their view on the role of a specific soil driver on the vegetation, or on the reverse impact of vegetation on the soil, approached from different scales. Lastly, the keynote speaker will conclude with challenges and opportunities within the field of vegetation – soil research. The final discussion will integrate the talks focusing on the different soil drivers and various scales addressed and will identify the lessons learnt across scales and systems throughout the day.
