WIAS Science Day 2016

Organised by Wageningen Institute of Animal Sciences (WIAS)

Thu 4 February 2016

The WIAS Science Day will take place on Thursday, February 4th 2016 at Orion (building nr.103) Room C1032/C2030/C2035 on Wageningen Campus.

The theme of this year’s WIAS Science Day is: 'Nature Technology'

As young scientists, our generation has been one of great technological advancement.  Implementing designs from nature, gained through observation of animals, the environment, and their interaction, has contributed to the development of novel technologies and has allowed for significant improvement of those already in existence.  In turn, application of this technology has enhanced our understanding of animal nutrition, behaviour, breeding and genetics.  Technology has allowed us to improve human and animal health, and to become more efficient at responsible food production and environmental sustainability.  During this WIAS Science Day, we invite you to highlight your research, exchange ideas, and gain inspiration from our keynote speakers about how technology in the 21st century is changing the way we study, and consequently improve, the natural world around us.

We are pleased to announce that online registration and call for abstracts of WIAS Science Day 2016 are open. You can register on the until Friday, 22th of January, 2016.

We highly encourage all WIAS PhD candidates to actively participate in the WIAS Science Day by giving a talk or presenting a poster.

Please use the attached form when submitting your abstract. Be advised that abstracts will be assigned to an oral or a poster presentation based on scientific quality, but will also depend on the year of study of the presenting author and whether this individual has previously presented at a WIAS Science Day. Authors will be informed of their designated presentation type by the WIAS Science Day Committee after the closing date (Monday, 21st of December, 2015) for abstract submission.
