Model-driven engineering of microbial metabolism

In my thesis I investigate the development and application of computational models used in microbial biotechnology. These models help us to better understand and modify bacterial metabolism, and to improve the systems that produce useful biochemicals in a sustainable manner. The use of these biological systems to produce chemicals can decrease our dependence on fossil fuels and foster the transition to the bio-based economy.
