SCHIZORIZA and its role in root development
Samenvatting
The root of Arabidopsis thaliana is simple and organized, being easy to observe and keep track of the cellular events - such as cell division and cell differentiation - that take place during the root formation and growth. The SCHIZORIZA gene was previously shown to be involved in the regulation of these events. Mutants that lack a functional SCHIZORIZA display very drastic changes in their roots, as result of a defective cell division and cell differentiation. In this thesis, different aspects of SCHIZORIZA function are explored, aiming to clarify how this gene exerts its role in these events that are essential for the correct root development.
