“As long as you can recognize the model, a portrait may show a poor resemblance”. From that thought the participants paint their models in the course ‘Drawing and painting from a model’ at ’t Venster, centre for arts in Wageningen. For this exhibition a selection was made of paintings that portray models who study, work or have been graduated at Wageningen UR.
What strikes most is the diversity of approach and the techniques used. Not surprisingly the course focuses on both gaining technical skills and learning about wide range of approaches in the art of painting. Every week the students get and take room for experiment and to develop their own style. The individual coaching results in a continuous growth.
