In the Netherlands, 5.3 million people live with a chronic condition. Some people experience this as a disability, while others with the same diagnosis experience hardly any restrictions. Science investigates genetic, metabolic and psychological explanations for these differences in resilience and perceived health. Nutrition plays a role: it can disrupt the metabolic balance or contribute to recovery. The Congress VoedingNederland2016 discusses the research agenda and stimulates discussion about the opportunities for nutrition, from the scientific perspective and issues that occur in daily practice.
Through our collaboration with Gelderse Vallei Hospital we connect medical knowledge and nutrition. In this congress we also collaborate with NAV, DCN, NVD and NVVL. Scientists, doctors, dieticians, policymakers and marketers will talk to each other in order to achieve good advice for consumers.
