Samenvatting (Engelstalig)

The research described in this thesis was initiated to enhance our understanding of the roles of tobacco NtCBL genes in the response to salt stress, and their possible contribution to salt tolerance. The thesis showed all findings and discussed our hypothesis on the salt-sensitive phenotypes induced by the overexpression of NtCBL4A-1, NtCBL5A, and the knock-out of NtCBL10. In addition, the thesis also includes some other findings in our research, which are useful to understand the salt stress response of plants.
