Anaerobic fungi on show at Micropia

Anaerobic fungi are featured as ‘Microbe of the month’ at the Dutch microbiology museum, Micropia, in Amsterdam. Visitors can learn about the biology of these potent fibre degrading organisms from the herbivore gut, and also their biotechnological value. A culture of Neocallimastix frontalis is available to be viewed down a microscope, enabling the public to directly explore the fungus first hand.

The exhibit is on display until the 30th of April 2019, and is a collaboration between Micropia and researchers at Wageningen University & Research (Dr Joan Edwards) and TU Delft (Prof Jack Pronk and Dr Aurin Vos)

More details about the exhibit can be found on the Micropia website.
