Leaders play an important role in the social work context of the employee. Previous studies have shown that leadership style can influence health and wellbeing of employees. In addition, it has been shown that leadership style also plays an important role in multiple other outcomes, such as knowledge sharing and team commitment.
Although communication is generally considered a key element of leadership, little is known on how it relates to health-related and organizational outcomes. Insight in the role of communication might provide input to develop leadership interventions to improve health and organizational outcomes.
