Pesticide use in Asia is widespread and hugely problematic. Pollution and health effect are the immediate risks besides food security, food quality and financial liabilities. Governments often do not have the means or the political will to reduce the trade in pesticides. At the same time they promote programmes to reduce the use of pesticides, for example Integrated Pest Management or biological control. There is scope for MSc thesis projects analysing pesticide use in relation to health and farming. There are opportunities for field work in Cambodia.
