Wageningen Marine Research is looking for an MSc of HBO student who can do the analysis of measurements in relation to timing of migration. The thesis includes literature study, data analysis and a written report. Affinity with R statistical software is preferred.
Since 2002 silver eel escapement in the river Meuse has been monitored by Wageningen Marine Research using telemetry techniques. The telemetric method used is the Nedap TrailTM system of Rijkswaterstaat, for which an extensive infrastructure is available in the Dutch rivers. In total 900 silver eels have been surgically implanted with transponders throughout the years and additional measurements of each eel have been registered. This thesis focusses on the analysis of a dataset with additional measurements on eel (e.g. eye index) in relation to timing of migration.
