I am Lecturer in Disaster and Crisis studies at the SDC group. An interdisciplinary geographer, my research has focussed on the politics of urban flood and landslide risk in Brazil’s Atlantic Forest biosphere, and especially on the relationship between environmental hazards, urbanisation, and citizenship.

My background is in social and development theory, the state, postcolonialism, and political ecology, and I employ an ethnographic approach to explore connections between communities, multi-level state institutions, and socio-environmental ruptures and conflicts.
