Sustainability on your plate

Christmas dinner can be more healthy and with more respect for humans, animals and the environment. Researchers of Wagenigen UR looked into ways to stimulate consumers to eat sustainable. They identified four groups: Uninterested people, people that already choose environmental friendly alternatives, people that eat less meat and a group that does both.

Making eating habits sustainable requires a different approach for each group. The recently updated nutrition guideline to eat more vegetables, beans, nuts and less dairy and meat, has the best chance to be successful when promoted as both healthy and sustainable. This way Wageningen UR works on the quality of life.
