Project

SYMBIOSES - system for biology‐based assessments

The objective of this project is to create an ecosystem based impact assessment and management tool providing fact-based, quantitative analyses of the potential consequences of petroleum developments and other activities in spatially managed ecosystems.

The project initiates development of an integrated modeling framework for ecosystem based risk assessments specified for the Lofoten/Barents Sea region.

The model framework will be developed using existing models for marine plankton, fish larvae and eggs, fish populations, ecotoxicology and dispersion of contaminants and will allow for the assessment of simultaneous effects of fisheries and petroleum activities on fish and plankton communities.
