UniversiTREE planted in New Zealand - 3 December 2018

On Monday December 3rd, 2018, a UniversiTREE was planted at the Wharerata Gardens on the Campus of Massey University and the Riddet Institute. To honour the 100 year anniversary of Wageningen University & Research the UniversiTREE was planted by Prof. Jan Thomas, Vice-Chancellor Massey University and Prof. Louise O. Fresco. Before the earth was turned and the Metrosideros collina “Spring Fire” was planted a Karakia (prayer) was made. Both Prof. Thomas and Prof. Fresco made a brief speech about the symbolism of the UniversiTREE and the benefits of bilateral cooperation between the institutions. Massey staff and students with connections to the Netherlands attended the event. Present from WUR as well was board member dr. Martin Scholten, director Animal Sciences Group.
