Studentinformatie

Which type of tuition fee do I have to pay in 2017-2018

The type of tuition fee you will have to pay as a student, depends on whether you fulfil the Nationality and Degree requirements. You will either pay the statutory tuition fee or an institutional tuition fee.

The conditions per type of tuition fee are explained below and apply to bachelor and master students. For Pre-Master Linkage Programme Students other conditions may apply.

Statutory Tuition Fee

You will pay the statutory tuition fee when you fulfil the Nationality requirement and the Degree requirement at the start of your enrolment at WU for the academic year 2017-2018.

Nationality Requirement

1. You are a national of one the EU countries or Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, Suriname, or

2. You are not a national of one of the above-mentioned countries but you belong to one of the groups as mentioned in article 2.2 of the Study Financing Act 2000 (WSF 2000). To determine if you belong to one of these groups, please see the nationality check on the website of DUO.

Degree Requirement

1. You enroll for a BSc study programme and you have not previously (after 1990) obtained a bachelor degree (or equivalent) at a Dutch University or school of Higher Professional Education.

2. You enroll for a MSc study programme and you have not previously (after 1990) obtained a master degree (or equivalent) at a Dutch University or school of Higher Professional Education.

When you want to enrol for a second study programme at Wageningen University (bachelor or master), you may also have the right to pay the statutory tuition fee if:

1. You fulfil the nationality requirement and you enrol for your second bachelor study programme before finishing your first Dutch bachelor study programme. After having obtained your first Dutch bachelor degree, you may continue your second bachelor study programme and pay the statutory tuition fee.  Your enrolment as a student at Wageningen University for the second study programme must be continuous.

2. You fulfil the nationality requirement and you enrol for your second master study programme before finishing your first Dutch master study programme. After having obtained your first Dutch master degree, you may continue your second master study programme and pay the statutory tuition fee.  Your enrolment as a student at Wageningen University for the second study programme must be continuous.

Institutional Tuition Fee 2

You will pay the Institutional Tuition Fee 2 if you fulfil the nationality requirement, as mentioned above, but you do NOT fulfil the degree requirement at the start of your enrolment at WU for the academic year 2017-2018. The amount of the institutional tuition fee 2 to be paid depends on the year in which you have started your study at Wageningen. In case of re-enrolment, you must have been enrolled as a student for the same study programme continuously.

Institutional Tuition Fee 3

You will have to pay the Institutional Tuition Fee 3 if you do NOT fulfil the nationality requirement, as mentioned above, at the start of your enrolment at WU for the academic year 2017-2018.

The amount of the institutional tuition fee 3 to be paid depends on the year in which you have started your study at Wageningen University. In case of re-enrolment, you must have been enrolled as a student for the same study programme continuously.

Did you start with your study in 2012-2013 or earlier, please see the invoice you received from Wageningen University for the tuition fees to be paid. Please contact the Student Service Centre for questions related to your tuition fee.

Students who are subject to a fellowship programme or study in the context of a cooperation agreement between Wageningen University and another institution, may qualify for an adapted institutional tuition fee 3 rate. Please contact the Student Service Centre for questions related to your tuition fee.

Determination of the tuition fee to be paid

The tuition fee to be paid will be determined by the Student Service Centre after having received your request for enrolment or for admission (via Studielink or Registration Form). The tuition fee will be temporarily determined based on the information available at that moment regarding your nationality and degrees obtained. If there has been a change in your nationality or degree obtained at the first day of your enrolment in 2017-2018, Wageningen University may decide to adjust the tuition fees charged.

For example, you have obtained a bachelor degree at a Dutch Institute for Higher Education in August. This fact was not known to us at the time of processing your request for enrollment for a bachelor programme at WU and we have charged you the statutory tuition fee. In September, we are notified by DUO that you had earned another bachelor's degree on September 1 and you are not entitled to the statutory tuition fee in 2017-2018. Instead you will have to pay the institutional tuition fee 2. We will then send you a new bill (for ic2) and ask you to pay the difference. In case the bill is not paid, your enrolment will be terminated in accordance with WU regulations.

Registration as Extraneus

Students who wish to register as ‘Extraneus’ pay Examination Fees equal to the tuition fee they would pay for enrolment as a 'Student'.
