Deep Time Walk with Boris van Meurs

Join our stroll through 4.6 billion years of Earth history! The Deep Time Walk is a journey from Earth’s wild beginnings to the Anthropocene. Each meter represents one million years, and by the time you reach the present your perception of Earth’s history and humanity’s place in it will have changed forever. PhD student and philosopher Boris van Meurs will be your guide through the crevasses of planetary history.

Location: Starts from Impulse Terrace

Time: starts at 14:30hrs and 19:00hrs. The walk takes approx. 2,5 hours.

The number of participants for these Deep Time Walks is limited, so make
sure you register and
purchase your ticket for the Deep Time Walk on time. Tickets will be on presale at the main Hall of Forum, during the lunch breaks between the 11th and 18th of May, and will be sold at the Festival (if still available).

About Boris van Meurs

Boris van Meurs is a teacher and PhD candidate in philosophy at Radboud University Nijmegen. His research focuses on how storytelling and plot can mobilise the scientific findings of geology and the Earth System sciences in order to understand the human condition in the age of anthropogenic climate change. He takes a special interest in the concept of geological time. Boris is also one of the KNAW Faces of Science and has co-founded the interdisciplinary research collective The ARCHAIC.
