Inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement, a group from FNP has been discussing discriminatory practices in our own institutional context. Prominent journals (such as this) in our field have highlighted that science needs to listen, learn and change.
We believe that this is the perfect moment to scrutinize from a bottom-up perspective the different activities in which FNP is involved - such as teaching and research, but also in careers and management - and become aware of differences in experiences as a first step towards action and change.
We aim to bring perspectives from students and staff in FNP together with initiatives ongoing in other chair groups and at university wide, such as the student led petition.
We are starting this process by collecting experiences of discrimination, whether based on race, sex, religion, age, ability, sexuality, etc using a survey.
