Design principles education for the start of the academic year 2020-2021

Next academic year will be different from the ‘pre-Corona normal’ and different from ‘online-only’ in period 5 and 6 too. Nearly every course will be a blended course: assignments and activities offered online serve to prepare for small-scale, interactive contact moments on campus.

Arranging education at 1.5 metre means there are many factors to consider, including the maximum number of students on campus and per room, public transport capacity, quality of education, organizability, safety of students and staff and much more. You can find these measures in more detail on the websites of the Dutch Government, the protocol for Resuming activities. These considerations resulted in 12 design principles for education at Wageningen University and Research at the start of the academic year 2020-2021.

The principles will utilize the on-campus possibilities the best way possible, while taking into account the need for flexibility for students, restrictions by the RIVM and the OCW protocol for universities.
