Recently, CAN took the initiative to visit various strategic partners in SE Asia. During this 14 day visit in March 2016, constructive meetings were held with official representatives from 2 universities in Thailand (Kasetsart University and Rajamangala University of Technology Isan), 2 universities in Vietnam (Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry and Vietnam National University of Agriculture in Hanoi) and University Putra Malaysia in Malaysia with the aim to jointly develop a tailor made MSc program on tropical veterinary nutrition in production animals and pets.

The underlying reason of the initiative to develop this program is two-fold: 1) to train veterinary professionals to optimize the implementation of knowledge in the field of animal nutrition, generated from research to the farmer and 2) to provide further opportunities for veterinarians to upscale their knowledge in animal nutrition. The initiative was highly appreciated and supported by the various (vice) deans of the universities visited. It is foreseen that a successful implementation of this new MSc program will enhance collaboration among the partners in the field of research and education in the future. In addition, a successful MSc course on tropical veterinary nutrition in production animals and pets facilitates the valorization of knowledge and attraction of research funds from the EU and member states of ASEAN.
