On Thursday, 26 February, there will be a guided tour and short lecture on animal physiology at Special Collections. These events are part of the exhibition Horse Power.

The lecture will explain the physiology of the horse by using the anatomic model of the horse of Auzoux. Since 1876 Wageningen UR has owned this and other paper-mache anatomic models by Dr Louis Auzoux (1797-1880), including a life-size model of a stallion. The anatomical model of the horse is made of painted paper mache and iron wire. The horse's abdomen can be opened by raising up head and shoulders, and its organs are detachable.

The exhibition Horse Power also includes rare books and drawings on the history of horses.

When: Thursday, 26 February 2015, from 1 pm - 2 pm

Where: Special Collections in the Forum Library, Droevendaalsesteeg 2, 6708 PB Wageningen.
