On 18 October meteorologist Gerrit Hiemstra will speak during the lunch lecture ‘Impacts and Future of Weather and Climate Sciences in Wageningen’. Next to his job, he builds his own climate sustainable house, and he shares his experiences with the audience.
Hiemstra is mostly known as weatherman at the NOS. Earlier this year he shared his experiences as student and alumnus, as part of ‘100 year of education at WUR’. Amongst others he emphasized the hands on mentality that is so typical for Wageningen alumni.
Apart from Gerrit Hiemstra, Prof. Bert Holtslag will expand on the contribution of Wageningen to recent weather- and climate topics, like urban environmental management and exploration of sustainable energy resources. Prof. dr. Simon Bush will be in charge of the introduction and the following discussion. The lecture is part of a series, aimed on the impact of ‘WUR-discoveries’ in Environmental sciences, both in present and future.
The lecture takes place on 18 October, 12.30 in Orion C2035, lunch included from 12.15. More information on the lecture and the related symposium ‘Earth futures’ on October 19 can be found on the website.
