Crows in trouble by plastics

Much attention is being paid to the impacts of plastics on marine life. But plastic debris on land causes similar suffering.

A recent article in PLoS ONE describes research on American crows in an urban and agricultural environment of California, U.S.A.. In over 85% of nests debris had been used as construction material. Breeding success was negatively influences because 5.6% of chick became entangled in synthetic ropes and fibres in the nest.
