Raffaele Vignola is an Agronomy Engineer from the University of Florence (Italy) and received his PhD in Science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ) where he developed inter-disciplinary research on decision sciences applied to the management of ecosystem services in Latin America. As founder and leader of the Latin American Chair of Environmental Decisions for Global Change (CLADA) at CATIE (a regional Research, Education and Extension organization focusing on Latin America), he has designed and supervised the implementation of several research and action-research projects to support a variety of stakeholders’ decision-making processes on ecosystem services conservation in several countries in this region. He is adjunct professor at the Institute for Environment, Resources and Sustainability of the University of British Columbia and research affiliate at the Gund Institute for the Environment of the University of Vermont.

In ENP, his focus expanded from an ecosystem conservation for food production and water conservation to design and implement research on the human/policy dimension of sustainable food systems.
