ENP welcomes visiting PhD candidate Alexandre Marques

Alexandre Marques is a visiting PhD candidate from Brazil. He will stay with the group until March 1st 2018.

He holds a degree in Geography, a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning and a PhD in Terrestrial Science at the National Institute for Space Research (INPE) in the line of research on Political Ecology of Global Changes and Regional Development. Alexandre has more than ten years of experience in public administration with a focus on Urban and Environmental Planning, in the elaboration of public policies and governance, participatory processes, resolution of socio-environmental conflicts via multi-stakeholder platform.

The focus of his research is the governance of water in environmental changes, the space clipping is the macro-metropolis of São Paulo city, State of São Paulo-Brazil, considered the largest megalopolis of Latin America and that has shown in the last decades serious problems involving the sustainable management of the water. Due to the process of intensification of their agricultural production, hydroelectricity production, industries, urbanization and household sanitation.
