Ingrid Boas has written a blog about the scientific debate regarding conflict and climate change, which has been published in Dutch national newspaper NRC (25 September 2017). Focusing on the question of whether or not a drought in north-east Syria led to (or contributed to) the eventual civil war in the region, she argues that nuance is lacking in the "yes-no" tug-of-war of high-profile publications on the topic. In January this year, Ingrid also wrote a blog about the 'securitisation of climate change'. In it, she argued that the link between climate change, conflict and migration is not as clear-cut as some make it out to be. Read it here.
