The '3rd International symposium on the genus Lilium ', organised by the Sino-Europe Agricultural Development Center (SEADC), will - from 1 to 3 April - be held in the Chinese city Zhangzhou. Driving force behind the organisation is researcher Jaap van Tuyl of Plant Breeding of Wageningen University & Research centre, who has for decades worldwide been regarded as an authority in the field of lily research.

Some 150 researchers and growers from around the world will attend this highly regarded international lily congress, which will for the third time, after Italy and Korea, be held in April 2014 in Zhangzhou in the Chinese province Fujian. Jaap van Tuyl calls this his last major job before his retirement. Over the last few years he has been very busy with the organisation and he will also be day chairman during the symposium. Paul Arens, researcher ornamental breeding and genetic diversity of Wageningen UR and anticipated successor of Jaap van Tuyl in Plant Breeding, is one of the speakers at the symposium, which will be opened by Aalt Dijkhuizen, former chairman of the Executive Board of Wageningen UR.

Sino-Europe Agricultural Development Center (SEADC) is an international platform for research and promotion set up by Wageningen University & Research centre, International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH), and Sino-Europa Technological Promotion Center (SETPC).

The city of Wageningen is partner city of the Chinese city Zhangzhou in the Fujian province.
