Birding Wageningen is the current exhibition of Wageningen University & Research - Library. Two groups tours have been scheduled in February.
In a 'bird's eye view' we outline the history of research on birds, from antiquity to the modern techniques, such as 3-D printing of bird eggs . Experience how natural history comes together with printing, art and social history.
Dates of the group tours:
Thursday 9 February
Thursday 23 February
From 12:15 - 12.45 pm. Admission is free and you don't have to register.
Come see the richness of the collection of old and beautiful bird books such as the 18th-century, large folio De Nederlandsche Vogelen by Nozeman and Sepp. The diversity of the collection is also shown in modern works, bird survey maps and reports. Special themes are the lapwing, the study of bird eggs (oology), and Wageningen-based research.
'Birding Wageningen' can also be visited individually in the Special Collections reading room from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. To visit the collection in the afternoon or with a group, please inquire with Special Collections for an appointment. The exhibition runs until 20 March 2017.
