The theme of this year's WetenWeek (Science and Technology Week) is the 'Tip of the Iceberg' in keeping with the International Polar Year (IPY) 2007-2008 and climate change. Around this theme and the WetenWeek, the Library has organised an exhibition with the same name.

Al Gore's film 'An Inconvenient Truth' deals not only with climate change but also with the question of how knowledge can be effectively used. Through the centuries, humanity has made discoveries and inventions in order to gather knowledge about the earth and nature and in order to understand life itself. Inventions such as printing, illustration techniques, library facilities and new media such as the Internet play an important role in the dissemination of this information. Based on the theme 'information dissemination', the exhibition shows an historical informational 'tip of the iceberg' with unique manuscripts, old books, maps, drawings and modern media from the (special) collections of Wageningen UR Library.

The exhibition runs from 4 September to 21 December 2007, Mon.- Fri. from 8:30 am - 5:30 pm in the Forum Library, Droevendaalsesteeg 2 (Building 102); entrance: 2nd Floor.

Special opening hours during the WetenWeek 17-24 October, Mon. - Fri., 8:30 am - 10 pm, Sat. 10 am - 5 pm, Sun.10 am - 3 pm.
