The Library supports Research Data Management and Open Access initiatives from the Wageningen UR research community. Recently, the online Open Data Journal for Agricultural Research (ODjAR) was launched by Alterra researchers Dr. Sander Jansen and Jappe Franke. The Library publishes the Online Journal in the online journal environment OJS.

The value of open data

ODjAR acts as a hub for storing, creating and publishing data sets from Agricultural research. Many relevant data sets are used and created in studying agricultural systems. The data are valuable to the specific research project as they lead to results and conclusions, that are published in peer-reviewed scientific journals or presented at conferences. However, the data also have a longer term value as a resource. Other researchers or experts may use them in new analyses that lead to new insights.

ODjAR in the Open Journal System (OJS)

ODjAR facilitates both future users and data creators by providing a publishing environment. ODjAR is hosted by the Library in the OJS environment. The Library provides the online publishing environment, a sustainable data archive (DANS, Dataverse) and delivers Digital Object Identifiers (DOI) on the published papers and data sets. This environment offers data documentation and citation under a creative common licence CC-BY. This licence requires crediting the original creator. The Library supports Alterra in hosting ODjAR in the OJS environment.
