Oscar Bos, marine ecologist, added 500 photos of marine research in the North Sea to the WUR Image Collections. Most of the photos, were taken in 2019 during expeditions of ‘Stichting Duik de Noordzee Schoon’, a volunteer organization that focuses on cleaning up shipwrecks in the North Sea.
The new set contains beautiful photos. Very special is the series of a minke whale (Balaenoptera acutorostrata) near the Dogger bank. Also photos of windmills, oyster research, sponges, jellyfishes, birds and landscapes are added to the collection Marine and Freshwater Photos.
The photos were taken by marine ecologist Oscar Bos from Wageningen Marine Research. Most of them were taken during the Dogger Bank Expedition of 'Stichting Duik de Noordzee schoon' in 2019. Marine biologists from Wageningen help to monitor the biodiversity of the wrecks.
The complete collection Marine and Fresh Water Photos brings together photos taken during scientific surveys, expeditions and holidays made by several staff members of Wageningen Marine Research.
The photos can be downloaded for free and can be used and distributed for non-commercial use. The Creative Commons licences are applicable.
