Martin Kropff is appointed as board member of CGIAR, the global Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research. Kropff will combine this position with his work as Rector of Wageningen University and Vice President of the Executive Board of Wageningen UR (University & Research centre).
A high position in the world's leading non-governmental organisation in the field of agricultural research means close involvement in the development and implementation of international agricultural policies. Therefore, it is also in Wageningen UR's advantage that Kropff participates in decision making processes and that he is always aware of the latest international developments in the field of agricultural research. Kropff wants to further strengthen the cooperation between the CGIAR institutes and Wageningen UR.
Kropff worked for CGIAR before. In the '90s, he led the international programme for system analysis and simulation of the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), one of the fifteen research centers of CGIAR.
