Margit van Wessel of the chair group Strategic Communication obtained (as main applicant) a 500,000 grant from NWO WOTRO to do research into the contribution of civil society organisations’ contribution to inclusive development in India. The project will fund 6 postdocs, and focuses on civil society advocacy on two themes: climate-related natural hazards and women’s rights. Research partners are Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, Lehigh University (USA), and International Institute of Social Studies.
Main civil society partners are Wetlands International and Mama Cash, and their Indian partners. The project is part of a three mln Euro research programme funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ‘Supporting the Political Role of Civil Society Organisations for Inclusive Development’.
