Yearly NuGO-week 2016 from September 5 to 8 in copenhagen, Denmark.

“Phenotypes and prevention –The interplay of genes, life-style factors and gut environment”

As part of this conference, 3 parallel sessions were organised September 6th as hands-on software sessions. Evert van Schothorst organised together with Dr. Mario Ost one of them focussing on MetaCore, a Thomson-Reuters program for nutritgenomics and metabolomics data for biological pathway analysis.

The session started with the presentation of Dr. David Isaacs (Thomson Reuters, UK) “ Empowering the biologists: Identifying key drivers of gene expression changes with the Key Pathway Advisor, a new companion to MetaCore” , followed by a scientific-driven presentation by Dr. Mario Ost (DifE, Potsdam, Germany) “Transcriptomic profiling of mitochondrial stress-induced adaptive remodelling of muscle metabolism” and finalized by a presentation of Dr. Evert van Schothorst “ Hands-on working with MetaCore: pros and cons working with complex datasets” showing how to use the software program as a biologist/nutritionist with multi-omics datasets.

Overall, the session was attended by a large audience and gave rise to many new ideas, being discussed during and after the session in the lovely centre of Copenhagen.
