Open Research Data for all Horizon 2020 calls

The Open Research Data will be required for all funding areas of the EU research Horizon 2020 program.

Until now there was an "Open Research Data Pilot" for a limited number of funding areas. In 2015 65% of all projects opted to share their data. In the updated 2017 workprogram this requirement has been extended to calls in all areas. This policy aims to make data resulting from EU funded research "as open as possible, as closed as nececessary". The possibilities to opt out remain, i.e. for reasons of privacy, to respect intellectual property rights, or if opening up data might jeopardize the project's main objective. In this context the guidelines for data management for Horizon 2020 have been updated.
