Our PhD'er Lisanne Mulderij is in Dublin for the Qualitative Research Summer School! Interested in what Lisanne is going to do there? Read further!

Lisanne: "In my project, called ‘care-PA initiatives in the neighbourhood’, we use a variety of research methods. An important part of the research will consist of qualitative research methods. I have some experience with doing qualitative research, but I am definitely not an expert; especially not on the coding and analysis part. Therefore, I decided to attend the Qualitative Research Summer School at Dublin City University, Ireland, from the 4th until the 8th of June. I will attend a course on thematic analysis to learn more about the coding and analysis part of doing qualitative research, as this is quite new to me.

However, my project does not only consist of qualitative research methods, but also quantitative research methods will be included. Combining the different types of results might be challenging, so therefore I will also attend a course on mixed methods analysis. During this course, I hope to learn more about the pros and cons of the different research methods, how to handle my research when using different research methods, and how to combine the different research methods to get the best out of my research.

And, lucky as I am, the weather is really nice! On the first day, my arrival day, it was all sunny and about 22 degrees, which made it a perfect day to explore the city of Dublin! Tuesday will be the first day of the summer school, so I am looking forward to expand my knowledge!!"
