In the January issue of Plant Life, digital newsletter on plant research at Wageningen UR, scientist Piet Boonekamp reacts on the more stringent guidelines of the EU to reduce the environmental impact of pesticides.

The European Union also aims to make the animal feed industry in Europe less dependent on imports from North and South America. Wageningen UR is studying the opportunities for new protein sources such as algae, beet greens and rape oil. It is also performing tests for the further development of European soya production.
