Together with growers and supplying industry these technologies will this year be implemented and tested at commercial growers. The water system at the companies will be analysed before implementation, to first check if the amount of discharge water can be decreased. Hereafter the remaining need for purification will be calculated. The first step can decrease the required capacity of the installation and thereby lower the investment costs. It is also investigated if it is interesting for the grower to use the disinfection unit to also purify the water. The installation will then switch between disinfection of recirculating water and purification of discharge water. After installation of the technology the purification efficacy will be tested. Also the costs of the implementation will be monitored. Results are expected end of 2015.

Purification technologies for the removal of plant protection products from greenhouse discharge water were tested in the Innovation and Demonstration Centre Water the last couple of years. These tests showed an efficacy in the removal of plant protection product for some of these technologies of 75-99% with Standardised Water.

Together with growers and supplying industry these technologies will this year be implemented and tested at commercial growers.
