The Managing Director of the Social Sciences Group (SSG), Ms Laan van Staalduinen, has given notice to the Wageningen UR Executive Board, effective 15 September 2015. After more than four and a half years, it is time for her to take on a new challenge. She will be using the summer to carefully consider her next step.
Ms Van Staalduinen has served as Managing Director since 1 February 2012, initially on an interim basis and later permanently. Prior to this, she was the Director of Operational Management for SSG. The Executive Board is sorry to see Ms Van Staalduinen leave and is very grateful for everything that she has accomplished for SSG and Wageningen UR. With her open and transparent administrative style and clear vision, she has helped SSG's three components (CDI, the Department of Social Sciences and LEI) to develop in a solid direction. One of her most significant accomplishments was ensuring that the socio-economic research institute LEI was able to recover from a very difficult period. Thanks to Ms Van Staalduinen's outstanding efforts, LEI has been strategically repositioned and is once again financially healthy and future-proof. The Executive Board would like to wish Laan van Staalduinen every success in her future career. A procedure to select a new Managing Director will be instituted as quickly as possible. Until such time as a new Managing Director is appointed, Raoul Bino, the Managing Director of AFSG, will serve as acting Managing Director for SSG.
