ENP's Science for Impact. The article 'New roles for local authorities in a time of climate change: the Rotterdam Energy Approach and Planning as a case of urban symbiosis' of Jennifer Lenhart, who recently graduated as PhD at ENP, was highlighted in the European Commission newsletter Science for Environment Policy.
In the article Lenhart, van Vliet and Mol illustrate that dense urban environments have significant resource-saving potential and serve as good platforms for climate change mitigation. The study reviewed an initiative to improve use of energy and water in Rotterdam, highlighting factors important for success including exchanges in close geographic proximity and private-sector participation.
