Simone Verhagen, Master student in WUR's Biotechnology program, received one of two scholarships from the dr. ir. Aalt Dijkhuizen Fund. Simone is currently finishing her MSc-Thesis on the catalytic upgrading of seaweed into value-added chemicals in the chair group Biobased Chemistry and Technology (BCT).
With the scholarship, Simone will continue her reserach around seaweed at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden.
The dr. ir. Aalt Dijkhuizen Fund is part of WUR's talent development programs and aims to give students the opportunity to visit top institutions around the world and learn from leading experts in their field.
