Thursday 17 March saw State Secretary Martijn van Dam and a delegation of agricultural counsellors and nutrition experts visit Wageningen UR Greenhouse Horticulture in Bleiswijk.
After being welcomed by Ernst van de Ende and Sjaak Bakker from Wageningen UR, the State Secretary and the delegation were treated to a working lunch, at which they discussed agricultural developments in various parts of the world.
Dutch representatives working in more than 40 countries returned to the Netherlands last week for this annual meeting. After lunch, the 80 delegates attended a presentation about international projects being run by Wageningen UR Greenhouse Horticulture, followed by a guided tour of the research greenhouses. They were updated on the latest developments regarding protected horticulture and resource efficiency, product quality, new crop varieties and the plans for the 'IDC International', featuring a range of plastic greenhouses.
The visit concluded with an informal discussion with the project leaders at Wageningen UR, who work in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Central and South America, the United States and Europe.
