At the WCGALP conference held in Auckland (NZ) from February 11-16, the permanent international committee of the World Congress of Genetics Applied to Livestock Production (WCGALP) decided to grant the organisation of the next congress in 2022 to Wageningen University & Research in collaboration with the Breed4Food partners CRV, Cobb Europe, Topigs-Norsvin and Hendrix Genetics.

WCGALP is the conference to share knowledge and to interact on innovations in the area of genetics applied to livestock production. The congress is organised every four years and attracts around 1400 delegates from around the world.

With many Dutch animal breeders present at previous conferences, Roel Veerkamp and Yvette de Haas, supported by representatives of the Breed4Food partners, PCO Congress by Design, Rotterdam Partners and Wageningen Academic Publishers, put together an offer to organise the conference in 2022 in De Doelen in Rotterdam.

The bid is summarised in this animation and the detailed bidbook was presented to the permanent committee at the current conference in Auckland. Ambassador Rob Zaagman (Dutch ambassador to New Zealand) was part of the delegation to endorse the bid.
