In 2017 WURCS granted two awards for the best WUR chemical PhD thesis. The awards were handed out during the new years reception of the science group AFSG.
The first prize was granted to Dr. Shazia Farooq for her thesis ‘From
photosynthesis in vivo to single DNA molecules in vitro’.
Promotor: Herbert van Amerongen, copromotor Joannes
The runner-up award was granted to Dr. Matthias Frommhagen for his thesis thesis entitled: ‘Lytic polysaccharide monooyxgenases from myceliophthora thermophila C1.
Promotores: Harry Gruppen (food chemistry) and Willem van Berkel (biochemistry), co-promotor Mirjam Kabel (food chemistry).
