Also in 2015 Wageningen UR Greenhouse Horticulture and Parrot SA will work together on new project. In recent years, Wageningen UR has helped to improve the plant database for the Parrot Flower Power and this work will also be continued. In 2015 two new inventions from Parrot will be tested, namely the Parrot Pot and the Parrot H2O. Both products propose to automatically water plants when the soil moisture gets too low.

The Parrot Pot is a pot equipped with 2-liter water tank that waters the plants through four nozzles.

The Parrot H2O can be equipped with a 0.5 to 2 liter reservoir that provides a single point of water by opening and closing a valve.

Both products measure the amount of water in the pot, EC, ambient temperature and amount of light. Every 15 minutes data is measured and sent via Bluetooth to the plant database and based on that, water is given or not. Wageningen UR Greenhouse Horticulture will help with determining the minimum amount of moisture that plants need and what strategy must be used to keep the plants alive as long as possible during for example the holidays. The pots can, of course, also be used outside. The advantage is that the consumer only need to pay attention to the amount of water in the reservoir, and does not need to assess whether the plant needs water or not.
