On Friday 24 June, Chang-Hsien Tai, President of the National Pingtung University of Science and Technology and Dr. Sjaak Bakker of Wageningen UR signed an agreement stating that Wageningen UR will train a number of staff members from various Taiwanese universities in the area of high-tech greenhouse horticulture.
Training, lectures and company visits
The three-week training course will be held in the autumn by Wageningen UR researchers and lecturers. In addition to lectures and exercises, an important part of the training will consist of visits to a large number of leading-edge companies in Dutch horticulture and the related supply industry.
Contribution to the development of Taiwanese horticulture
Taiwan aims to enhance the production of horticultural products: increased yields, improved quality and sustainable production. The twelve Taiwanese university staff members will transfer the knowledge obtained in horticulture, technology and the supply industry to their own students and colleagues. This will contribute to the development of Taiwanese horticulture and the collaboration of Dutch and Taiwanese companies in this field.
