Walter Gerrits appointed as personal professor

Because of his outstanding achievements in teaching and research, the executive board of Wageningen University & Research appointed Walter Gerrits (Animal Nutrition) as personal professor. W.J.J. (Walter) Gerrits (Bakel en Milheeze, 1964), has been appointed as personal professor at the Animal Nutrition group since October 1, 2016. Before October 1 he worked as an associate professor at the chair group.

Walter Gerrits specializes in digestive physiology and protein & energy metabolism of growing animals. He focusses on the quantitative aspects of the diet. The next few years he will focus on the study of precision nutrition, digestion kinetics and metabolism & health.

Prof. Gerrits received his master's degree in Animal Sciences in Wageningen in 1989 and his PhD in 1996. After his promotion he worked as an Associate and Assistant Professor at Wageningen University. He also worked at TNO Food and Nutrition.
