Participation in the competition is free for students registered for architectural or design study programmes. Participants can submit one entry individually or as a team.

The gliding site located at Schinveld, the Netherlands, wants to improve the character and appeal of the region. Together with IBA Parkstad and Onderbanken municipality, the gliding site has launched a competition especially for students for the transformation of the buildings, the site, and the surrounding area. Visitors and tourists should be able to make use of motorhome camping sites and experience the cross-border natural landscape in a unique way.

For this assignment, participants are asked to create a total plan - a cross-border recreation concept - for the gliding site and its surroundings. Some aspects will require further architectural detailing. This includes the transformation of the current main building and hangar, a new motorhome camping site, the hardening of the runway, the redevelopment of the entrance area, and the connection with recreational activities across the border in Gangelt. Read the Rules for more information. The Appendices contain maps, available studies, and an introduction about IBA.
