Fusarium control through host encoded broad spectrum resistance in potato
Potato dry rot is caused by soil fungi from the Fusarium species complex, and causes up to 25% post-harvest losses. Measures to combat the disease are currently insufficient.
In this project research is being done into resistance mechanisms of about 20 new resistance sources, in order to lay a foundation for accelerated resistance breeding. Resistant varieties will enable chemical-free storage and lead to higher efficiency through lower production losses.
