SMP23024 Reduction of agrochemical use in Vietnamese ornamental value chain

Vietnam has been in the spotlight for years when it comes to countries with great potential for horticulture. The objective of the SMP is to explore opportunities to reduce the usage (amount and type) of agrochemicals, to stimulate safe and correct application of agrochemicals (in order to protect health, the environment and result in cost reduction on inputs), and to stimulate the use of alternative products in the ornamental supply chain.

The Seed Money Project will contribute to several missions of the knowledge and innovation agenda

Agriculture-Water-Food:
• Mission A – Circular Agriculture – specifically reduction of nitrogen deposition, (re)use of nutrients, development of robust cropping systems on healthy soil and substrate, and optimization of (re)use of side streams;
• Mission B – Climate neutral agriculture and food production – specifically reduction of laughing gas from agricultural soils and reduction of energy use in greenhouses;
• Mission D – Appreciated, healthy and safe food – specifically increasing the trust in the way food is produced (because of clear and transparent communication), stimulation of the production of sustainable food, development of sustainable production systems and developing a substantial more sustainable food chain.
